From setup to sharing
Start a shared conversation without exchanging personal contact details.
A room password is used to protect the conversation, and chat messages are encrypted in the browser before they are stored. People with the room address and password can join the same live conversation.
Participants can join without a LOCK.PUB account. They open the room, enter its password, choose the requested display identity, and exchange messages while the room is available.
Before you begin
Display names do not verify identity. Participants can copy the conversation.
The creator names the room, chooses the password, and shares the two pieces of access information. Room availability and message capacity follow the settings and plan shown at creation.
The server stores encrypted message payloads, but the room is not an identity-verification system. Any participant with access can read, copy, or capture messages, and operational network metadata may still exist. The password is sent to the server over HTTPS for room-entry verification; browser-side message encryption does not mean the server never receives the password.
SecurityPractical answers for creators and recipients before using this feature.
Free rooms currently allow up to 50 messages per room, while Pro removes that message cap. Treat anonymous participation as the absence of a public account identity, not as a guarantee of complete network anonymity.
